Need ideas to design the office? How about Pinterest?
Social media is a great tool for any business. It allows businesses to market themselves, brainstorm project ideas for your staff, improve communication lines with clients and employees (kill time during a meeting, shhh).
But have you thought of using it to breathe life into the design of your office? If not, think Pinterest.
Pinterest is a fantastic way to get inspired for any office design or decorating project, but what is it exactly?
If you’re not familiar with the platform, think of it as a large brainstorming board hanging somewhere in the office. Every time you find an inspirational quote, you take a pin and stick it on the board for everyone to see. Other boards are dedicated to pictures of projects, awards, or color patterns.
Not only is it a great way to share ideas with others, but you can always come back and refer to these ideas later.
And when it comes to designing and decorating an office, Pinterest is a deep well of great ideas.
Once you’ve made a Pinterest account, which is incredibly easy, the first thing you want to do is set up a “board” and name it something like “office redesign.” Each time you see an idea you like, pin it to this board so that you later you can review all of your super-sweet ideas.
Also, because it’s a social network others can see your ideas, repin them, and even comment just like they would on another platform like Facebook.
But how do you find those creative, fun and eye-catching ideas?
The truth is, Pinterest is incredibly easy to use. Try simple, broad searches to get going. Type in “office design” or “great office space.” A ton of office photos will pop up and you’re on your way.
Once you’ve started that initial search, you can look through each individual pin or look through albums people have created. You’ll find tons of ideas you can flip through until you find the ones that grab your attention and inspire you.
If you’ve started that initial search and it’s too broad for the moment, start with color scheme and then move to furniture.
Whether it be a color scheme you’re trying to match or one you want to create, start here. Simply type in “blue office” or “office color scheme.” Not only will you get great ideas for a color scheme, but there’s also links to blogs and other design tools that will help you learn how and why to color coordinate. You can also find plenty of pins and links to articles that will help you discover color palettes and eye-catching designs.
Now, it’s time to fill your office with cool furniture. Simple searches for “office desk” or “office chair” are going to yield huge photos and links to websites.
Of course, the more focused your search the better. For instance, try “ergonomic office chairs” or “super-sweet office desks.”
You’re probably getting the picture by now. The key to Pinterest is simply to start with an idea and refine your searches until you come up with your ideal workspace, all pinned to the board you’ve set up.
Obviously, one of the best places to get you going is the IOS Pinterest page, which is full of great boards to tackle every aspect of office design. We’ve got great pins on everything from “Our Work,” “Chairs” and “Storage Options,” to “Ergonomics” and “Tables.” These are great boards to help you bring your ideal office to life.
